Our School Offer
At Cherry Dale Primary School, we take a graduated approach to supporting children with additional needs. We work with our Senior Leaders and parents and carers to ensure our schools are offering the best inclusive provision for our children and families. We are a strong team who are dedicated to tailoring learning to every child’s needs irrespective of gender, race or disability. The school has an Equality Policy and ensures that there is equality of opportunity and those children with Special Education Needs and disabilities are not disadvantaged.
We strongly believe in helping every pupil reach their full potential. Sometimes our children may need a little extra help and support to succeed in their education and social interactions. Positive relationships between adults and children are paramount. From the very beginning, our children learn that we are safe and trustworthy adults, who are reliable and approachable, who will listen and value their opinions and beliefs and remain consistent.
Throughout the process you, the parent or carer, will be fully included within discussions about how best to support your child. This will be through conversations with the class teacher and Mrs Hedley, the SENDCO. If it is felt that the child does need to be placed on the SEND register, then this is nothing to worry about. It simply means we will work together to ensure that your child achieves their every success.
Every child on the SEND register will have a unique provision map written in collaboration with parents, class teacher and Mrs Hedley to ensure an assess-plan-do-review process. Progress and regular discussions will enable everyone to assess the child's progress. This SEND register is a fluid register meaning that children can move on and off the register in accordance with their needs. During this time, further support might be sought from outside professionals and this will all be conveyed to you.
